ROOMS FAQS
What time is check in and check out?
Guest check-in is at 4 pm and check-out is 11 am.
What type of rooms do you offer?
While we have seven room types in the main Inn and up to five cabin rooms currently, the style and decor of each room will vary in color, design, and specific layout. Many returning guests enjoy discovering the individual character and charm in each room.
Is there a two-night minimum?
During peak occupancy, we may occasionally have two-night minimum stays and even three-night minimums on a few holidays and during large, town-wide events. You can view available dates here and see what packages may be available during your preferred times.
Does my reservation require a deposit?
A deposit of the first night's stay is charged at the time of reservation.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations made by 4pm at least 14 days prior to arrival will result in a full refund of the deposit. Cancellations or changes to dates of the stay made within 13 days of the scheduled arrival date will result in forfeiture of your deposit. Early departures will be charged the amount of the stay in full. To cancel a reservation please call 866-526-8008.
Do you offer any kind of discount, AARP or AAA, etc.?
To keep things simple, we do not offer any discounts. However, we do have a variety of unique packages, as well as occasional specials.
Do you have ADA accessible rooms?
Yes, we do. To reserve the right room for your needs, please call 1-855-271-7246 or email our reservations team to discuss the various available options.
What in-room amenities do you have?
We have many in-room amenities to make your stay more enjoyable including complimentary Wi-Fi, in-room safes, premium cable channels, in-room phone and voicemail, Frette linens, clock radio, coffee/tea maker, iron and ironing board, heated marble bathroom floors, eco-friendly bath amenities, and oversized showers.
Are your fireplaces wood burning?
While we have wood-burning fireplaces in some of the common areas, including an outdoor fire pit, all guestrooms feature gas fireplaces.
Can I arrange for gifts or flowers on arrival?
Absolutely! We'd love to help you arrange that little something special. You can purchase add-on goodies online during your reservation process. It can also be arranged with our reservations team, (press option 1) However, if contacted within 24 hours of your arrival, gifts may not be in the room in time for check-in. Please allow a minimum of 24 hours for orders to be processed. Thank you!
Do you have a bellman?
Yes, we do. Several actually :) and they are happy to assist you to and familiarize you with your room upon arrival.

Do you have any recommendations for things to do in the area?
Yes, we have plenty of brochures about the area located at our reception desk, and all of our staff members are happy to give personal recommendations as well. Just ask and let us help you discover why Western North Carolina is so amazing.
DINING FAQS
Do you offer any additional meals on property besides breakfast?
Included in the price of your stay are fresh chef-made breakfasts every morning from 7:30 - 10 am and social hour hors d’oeurves each afternoon from 5 - 6 pm.
Enjoyable soups, salads, sandwiches, and weekly specials are available for purchase in J. Henry Farmhouse Tavern which is open from noon to 10 pm daily.
Your stay at Half-Mile Farm also comes with room-signing privileges at the restaurants of Old Edwards Inn in downtown Highlands. Transportation is provided in the evenings to take you to some of Western North Carolina's best restaurants, including the elegant Madison's Restaurant and al fresco Wine Garden (in season), the lively social vibe at Four65 Woodfire Bistro + Bar, the unique Grill Room at Old Edwards Club (in season), and the parlor-style Hummingbird Lounge.
I have a dietary restriction, can you make any exceptions to the Chef Prepared breakfast?
The chef does his best to accommodate special dietary requests. Please provide this information during your reservation process and follow up with a mention during check-in.
Is there a restaurant on property?
Yes, we have our delicious complimentary chef-prepared breakfast each morning and light fare in J. Henry Farmhouse Tavern. There is also a wonderful variety of restaurants in the area ranging from fast food to casual and fine dining in town, just 2.5 miles away. Our dining guide will give you a wide variety of options to try while staying in Highlands.
INN FAQ'S
Is there a Hot Tub/Jacuzzi?
Yes, we have a year-round Hot Tub located next to the seasonal, heated saltwater pool.
Can I use the Old Edwards amenities?
Yes, as a guest of Half-Mile Farm, you have access to some Old Edwards amenities as well as room signing privileges.
Madison's Restaurant and Wine Garden and Hummingbird Lounge are open to the public for lunch and dinner. Only guests at Old Edwards Inn and 200 Main may join them for breakfast. The Spa at Old Edwards is also open to the public for treatments and use of the spa amenities —including the Spa Café— on the day of their scheduled treatment(s). It is best to book any Madison's dining and spa services at the time you book your room reservation, as these tend to fill up well in advance.
Another perk for guests at Half-Mile Farm is access to the private Old Edwards Club. This Tom Jackson-designed course offers one of the most beautiful and challenging games of golf in Highlands. Guests may also book a round of golf at The Saddle— a lighted, 12-hole, par-three walking course in the private GlenCove community built for all ages and skill levels with a putting course and short-game practice area available.
Please note: Only guests staying at Old Edwards Inn have access to the pools and fitness center there.
Is there hiking on property?
We are happy to say that our guests can once again enjoy walking the secluded path behind the Inn as well as along the gravel road beside Apple Lake. In the surrounding area, including downtown Highlands, there are several fantastic hiking trails for all fitness levels. Learn more in our Adventures & Excursions brochure.
Are you pet friendly?
No pets are permitted on the property. Only service animals as defined under the ADA are permitted and must be under the handler's control at all times. Please note: emotional support, therapy, comfort, or companion animals are not considered service animals under the ADA, and we do not allow these on-premises. Guests violating this policy will be charged a minimum $250 cleaning fee and asked to leave the property. There are now select dog-friendly rooms available at our 200 Main property.
Is your pool chlorinated and/or heated?
Yes, our outdoor pool is heated and open seasonally. It is a saltwater system instead of a typical chlorinated pool. You can read about saltwater pools here.
Are towels provided at the pool?
Poolside towels are provided, no need to take your room towels when you go for a swim. If you plan to use one of the stand-up paddle boards at Apple Lake, either swing by the pool for a towel or ask any of our helpful staff members for a towel.
Are there any parking fees?
No, self-parking is available on the property at no additional charge.
Are there any resort fees?
We don't charge a resort fee, just come and enjoy yourselves!
Is there an indoor pool?
No, we do not have an indoor pool. Our outdoor pool is heated. However, as temperatures dip too low, please note that guests of Half-Mile Farm have free access to the indoor pool and fitness center at the Highlands Recreation Center.
Do you have wi-fi?
Yes, we have complimentary wi-fi in guest rooms and public areas.
Do you have EV Chargers on property?
Yes, all three of our hotels have EnviroSpark electric vehicle charging stations. The charging rate is $3 per hour. Download the app and get started.
Do you have a spa, and somewhere where I can get my hair or nails done?
While we do offer a list of lovely, relaxing spa treatments in our on-property Serenity Spa, we do not have hair and nail salons on-premises. The Spa at Old Edwards has a wider variety of offerings, including massages, facials, hair, nails, and more. Plus, you have room-signing privileges there to make things even easier. Please note that it is best to book them at the time of your reservation to ensure availability.
Can I bring my children to Half-Mile Farm?
Only if they are grown. Half-Mile Farm is for guests 18 and older.
Is Half-Mile Farm a smoke-free property?
Half-Mile Farm is strictly non-smoking (and non-vaping), indoors and outdoors. Guests violating this policy in public spaces will be asked to leave the property. Should it be determined that smoking has taken place in a guestroom, a $250 cleaning fee will be placed on the guest folio at the time of discovery, either before or after check-out.

Do you provide a shuttle service into town?
We provide dinner shuttle service to Madison's Restaurant at Old Edwards Inn and Spa in the evenings. The schedule can change with the season so inquire at the front desk for details.
How far is Half-Mile Farm from Highlands?
Half-Mile Farm is located 2.5 miles from the center of downtown Highlands, about a five-minute drive. Since it is located in the heart of downtown, it is the same distance and time for anyone planning any activities at Old Edwards Inn.
How far are you from the closest airports?
Atlanta, GA airport – Approximately 140 miles – about 2 ½ hours in normal traffic
Charlotte, NC airport – Approximately 160 miles – about 3 ½ hours in normal traffic
Asheville, NC airport – Approximately 60 miles – about 1 ½ hours in normal traffic
Greenville, SC airport – Approximately 90 miles – about 2 hours in normal traffic
Do you provide shuttle service from the airports?
No. We do not operate a shuttle service to and from nearby airports.
GIFT CARD FAQ'S
What does the physical card look like when received?
If ordered online, you may choose either an e-card to be instantly emailed to your provided address or a physical gift card to be mailed to you or the recipient of your choosing. The physical card will typically be a warm gray color with the Half-Mile Farm logo. If supplies run low in peak gift-giving seasons, we may send ones that are brown and feature the Old Edwards Inn and Spa logo. They work identically and are packaged with a beautiful holiday or signature greeting card and may be customized with a handwritten message if you desire. Please see the gift card page for details.
What is the expiration date of gift cards purchased online?
Our gift cards have no expiration date, however, if lost we cannot replace the gift card.
Will the recipients name be printed on the physical gift card?
Unfortunately, we cannot customize physical gift cards themselves.
Is it possible to send an online gift card purchase via U.S. Postal Service?
All traditional gift card orders with a physical card are mailed via USPS or FedEx. They may be mailed to you or directly to your recipient. Please allow a minimum of 24 hours to process the order as well as for the additional days for delivery by mail.
