ZENDOODLE & LEAF DRAWING EXPERIENCES
AT HALF-MILE FARM 2:30 - 4 PM
Select Dates July throughout October
Experience curated art therapy amidst Half-Mile Farm's nature, including silent wildlife hikes and hands-on workshops to create nature-inspired art pieces, embracing the healing energy of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Complimentary bubbles or non-alcoholic bubbles for all guests.
Zendoodle
July 16 & September 17
Learn three or four nature patterns and turn them into zendoodle designs with Margie's guidance. The patterns require you to focus on very simple strokes, which leads into a state of mindfulness. There are no mistakes in this work, just opportunities. No art skills are needed, just the felt tip marker and paper provided. You will finish with a meditation practice you can take with you to use on a flight, in a meeting, or whenever you need to settle into a peaceful state.
Leaf Drawing
October 8 & 22
Collect a leaf from a tree or plant during the nature walk. Margie will guide you through creating your leaf outline and veins with a pen and then transfer the details onto paper with the help of black transfer paper between the tracing paper and art paper. You'll sign and date your artwork and take it home to showcase in your own home.
About Margie Bauer
Margie Bauer, a botanical and scientific illustrator, a “zen-doodler”, a fabric artist, and a teacher in watercolor, pen, and mixed media, works out of her studios in Cashiers, NC, and Coral Gables, Florida. She often studies her subjects by growing native plants that attract native creatures.
From her grandparents' extensive gardens in Cincinnati, Ohio, to raising plants and animals as a Peace Corps volunteer in Zaire, to her 30-year international career as a diplomat reporting on and promoting agricultural products for the US Department of Agriculture, she has immersed herself in nature. She served as Agricultural Attaché at the US embassies in Indonesia, the Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.
In Western North Carolina, she has taught various art classes at the Highlands Biological Station where she also volunteers. Her original artwork, giclees (museum quality prints), and cards can be found at more than 10 outlets in Highlands, Cashiers, Sylva, Lake Toxaway, Brevard, Flatrock, and Asheville, and she promotes her work at various regional art events.
