Recovery, Donation & NC-106 Information

We were humbled and are grateful to see the outpouring of compassion for our community in the aftermath of Helene. While Highlands had some challenges after the storm, they paled compared to our neighbors to the Northeast. Our amazing community members—locals and part-timers combined—our town employees, as well as the road and lineman crews, banded together to get things back on track and the town reopened for leaf season. We view it as our responsibility to get back to business as this will help us meet the needs of our town and the region beyond the Plateau. We recognize that it will take months rather than weeks, but we want to help everyone get back to normal as quickly as possible.

Many organizations have stepped up to contribute and provide aid during the recovery. They are all doing amazing work so we will update this page as the needs shift in the ongoing efforts. We have vetted the names and links provided here so that guests considering a contribution can have faith that their aid will reach those who can truly benefit. Please check back often over the next months to see where you can do the most good.

Again, words cannot adequately express our appreciation for all of you who have shown concern, offered love and prayers, and done what you can from near and far to assist our community and our region during this life-changing event.

Please note that if you plan to take NC-106 (Dillard Rd) on your journey to and from Highlands, you will need plan a new route. Starting Saturday, October 19 until further notice, the best alternate routes are through Franklin, NC, via NC Highway 64 (the Highlands-Franklin Road), or through Clayton, GA, via Warwoman Road to GA Highway 28 (Walhalla Road).
